More About Emily

Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Whitman College, and a Master’s of Arts degree in Counseling with a specialization in School Counseling from the University of Arizona. Throughout her professional life, Emily has prioritized jobs that uplift children and teens. Prior to being a therapist, Emily worked as a montessori teaching assistant, outdoor educator, and a behavioral health technician in an inpatient setting. These varied experiences shaped her to use diverse environments to identify unique strengths in youth. Her specialization in graduate school allowed for experience in both outpatient and school settings

Fueled by curiosity and compassion, Emily is passionate about supporting clients in personal empowerment, self-advocacy, and communication of needs. Her foundational theory is Person Centered Counseling, which guides her to approach each client with unconditional positive regard, and recognize that clients are capable of positive change when given the right opportunities. She also utilizes techniques drawing from Solution Focused/Strengths Based Counseling, Mindfulness, safety planning, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Emily is especially skilled at treating anxiety, depression, poor self-esteem and working with the LGBTQ+ community regarding identity.
